Day 34: Taking the high road of…

It snowed 20 cm last night and we need to get back to the city! Perfect powder!

Unfair: It snowed 20 cm last night and we need to get back to the city! Perfect powder!

Unfortunately we settled for a ‘brekkie’ (no pun intended by Aric) at the Mr. W’s House Of Pancakes. It was a little scary. You really start to miss our Salatdeko (Wie heisst das nochmal? Garnierung?) when confronted with a plate full of fried things for breakfast. Also Aric and I will never enter a pink place again since it’s not too flattering to our skin tones. Once done with the fried stuff we met more dudes in the parking lot. They were hanging out in their ski attire in the car having Amaretto (of all drinks!) and whisky – at noon. They weren’t sure if the would actually make it to the skiing area.

Avi and Eric went to Manchester, finally spend some man time watching a football game waiting for Avi’s plane to Chicago while I introduced Ali to the Art of – maybe I should call it ‘Foolio Travel’. Problem is: We were so caught up in our conversation we even did a pretty good job – for doing such a bad one.

1. You know the way ADD people have to repeat things until they feel they did it right? Well, we just got confused and thought we missed an exit.  That way we paid the highway fare three times. Third time felt right.

2. An hour into New York Ali notices that the car does jerk funny. And realizes the car has a gas indicator that counts how many miles you can go – backwards. It’s —– and it is blinking. I start searching for ways to climb the walls alongside the highway in case jerking turns into actual stopping. That way we make it in to New Rochelle with an sensation of excitement. No offence but I am not sure if it’s that’s any of New Rochelle’s account though.

3. Ali still driving the car when we pass by her house to bring our luggage home and make our way to the rental station. One block down we take a left and a police car follows us and tells us to pull over.
Ok, what the policeman doesn’t know:

a) Ali is not a designated driver for the rental car.
b) Her licence is expired.

What the policeman does know is that you should not take a left on Grand and Bowery especially if you

a) live on Grand and Mott
b) a police car is right behind you

Maybe it was Ali looking out of the window asking in an unsteady voice ‘What seems to be the problem OFFICER?’
(I can’t belive she really said that! I was trying very hard NOT to laugh) that made us get away with it.
Foolios on the run!

Finally we got rid of the car and went for some excellent Mexican food. (Who thought fish taco would be any good?) Watched an exciting and foggy Barca vs Asasuna soccer game. Left when Terry Richarson came in.

Sore muscles make it hard to walk stairs btw. Haven’t had that in a while…

P.S: There is no internet in New Hamshire. And also nearly no cell phone reception. That’s why I didn’t post earlier. And that’s my idea to save New Hamshire kids from drowning in Amretto:
Free wireless and cell phone reception for New Hamshire!

‘Antonia K. for Govenor’ one of my many business ideas…
